Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, donated N50 million to traders of Kantin Kwari Textile Market in Kano State affected by flooding.
The media reports that goods worth millions of naira were destroyed by flood that ravaged the market last week.
Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, announced the donation at a grand reception organised for the senator representing Kano Central, Ibrahim Shekarau, who returned to the party in Kano on Monday.Related News
In his brief speech, Atiku commiserated with the affected traders, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with traders of Kantin Kwari Textile Market. We have heard about the calamity that befell your market.
“We are not here for campaign. I am here to receive Shekarau into the fold of the PDP.
“We really feel for you and, as such, I announce the donation of N50 million.”
