James Adegoke Idowu Ajibola Ige popularly known as Bola Ige was a native of Esa Oke, Osun State.
Note Esa Oke town was formerly part of old Oyo State, he spent up to 14years of his childhood in Kaduna before he went to Ibadan to continue his education, he later headed to London for studies and graduated with law degree at University College in London which he was called to the bar in London’s Inner Temple.
Chief Bola Ige one the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was well known as activist, human right fighter and
oratory prowess, he wrote many books and articles. He was so talented to the uncommon extent that he spoke the three dominated Nigerian languages (Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo)fluently.
Chief Bola Ige was the first Governor of old Oyo state and also the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Nigeria during Olusegun Obasanjo regime.
He was about to take up a new position as a member of the United Nations International Law Commission when he was gunned down on 23rd December 2001 in his abode in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
After serving his country for years, decades also crowd masquerade which everyone is after him positively as political hero, it’s a tragic that coward masquerade political antagonist could kill him just like a Billy goat.
Some said he has gone nothing Nigeria government can do to it, while most Nigerian insist on immaculate justice to prevail.
It’s a shame and slap on Nigeria government for not been apprehend those behind Chief Bola Ige’s death since two decades.
Nigeria government seems to be the source of inspiration to the so called criminals because those criminals believed that once they go for operations and succeed nothing will happen aftermath, they’d believed and known that Nigeria is nation with full of injustice.
Some weeks ago, Nigerians has been grievance and requesting for justice to prevail about the sudden death of Adegoke Timothy and Sylvester Oromoni still we hardly hear any news about the case, same applicable to the case of the notorious kidnapper”Evans” who has been apprehended since June of 2017.
Indeed Nigeria is worth of living but not worth of dying for, It was a wound on the mind of Nigerians that the former president Olusegun Obasanjo who was Chief Bola Ige political ally and still serving as minister for justice and attorney general under him then, made lacklustre attempt to track down and apprehend Ige killers.
It’s obvious and clear that chief Bola Ige was slain because the two policemen who was posted to secure his house from Bodija Police station didn’t report nor show up on that notorious evening.
Also few people were arrested who at first pointed accusing fingers at certain peoples that responsible to his murder, but later they were left off the hook.
Chief Bola Ige was indeed a wonderful person with greet deeds, forever we must continue to honour him, rest on Ige.
