The Presidency has revealed why the white pigeons released by Buhari at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony, refused to fly despite multiple attempts by the president.
In a now-deleted tweet, Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad said the pigeons love Buhari so much and they were not ready to leave him.
“They love him so much, they don’t want
to leave him, he has taken them back to
Villa“, Bashir Ahmad wrote.
He went ahead to share a photo of the birds flying out of the cage during the ceremony held at the National Arcade, Eagle Square, Abuja.
He obviously did that to counter opinions saying the pigeons did not fly out and might symbolize a bad omen.
The ritual of releasing doves is to commemorate the life of a departed loved one and is common at significant events like funerals or memorials. It also signifies peace.
